Mamma Mia

After much pushing and prodding, moments of frustration and fascination, hope followed again and again by hesitation, Mya has finally uttered her first discernible and consistent word. And the word by which she announced her jabbering intentions to the world is...

Yep. ABBA. That is the cover of a DVD compilation of ABBA's music videos that my dad gave to Afton after she loved watching the videos during one of our concert/music video viewing nights. Afton quickly became obsessed with the group's music and the dated and thus silly videos. And Mya has followed suit. Mya will often search for the DVD case and will carry it to me or Stef, and then will mumble a few nonsensical phrases before concluding with "ABBA". I guess now it is morphing more into "B-ABBA" as her jabbering kind of rolls into the only actual word she's trying to say. But we are quite pleased to say the least that she is at least attempting to say something.

She has added slightly to her repertoire, doing quite well with the word bubble, saying "nigh-nigh" when we take her to bed, and when trying to say milk, mama, or dada.

Well, I think it's terrific that Mya's first word shows her discriminating taste in music! ABBA is great and Mya is the sweetest! Maybe next she will attempt the title of the first song on the album, "Wanna Do."
