Prayer

Walked into Afton's room and saw her kneeling at her bed, hands clasped together, eyes closed...when she came out I asked if she was saying a prayer and if she'd tell me what she was praying about. This was what she said her prayer was:

"Heavenly Father, please help me do the things I can't do. And bless me with the things that I want. And please send me more company."

Potty Training

Potty training week emotions...with pictures.

Floor and furniture are potty proof, 173 pairs of little girl panties ready, and no plans to leave the house for the next week...check.

Okay, we can do this. It always starts slow, but we just had our first success.

Mas Tortas

More cake decorating goodness...

This was a cake for my Mom's birthday. It was the quintessentially perfect cake (description provided by the redundancy department of redundancy).

This was for my nephew Aidan who bleeds Cougar blue like all good boys should.

This was a congratulations cake for our friends Pati and Kori Maiava who adopted a beautiful baby girl from Samoa. (And who, full disclosure and all, were watching a BYU game when Stefanie delivered the cake...what a great home for children to be raised in)

Picture Show

I got home from a visit at the hospital with Dad on Sunday night and was greeted with Stefanie telling Afton, "Now you can go show Dad your picture show." I got a head shake and shoulder shrug from Stef that meant Afton had been on a creative project that had to be seen to be believed. So when Afton was ready to grabbed my hand and took me around the house to show me pictures she had drawn and then taped up on walls and doors all around the house.

This was the first one Afton showed me. Her explanation: "This is a picture of me. And underneath I wrote this: I can't find the lost sheep. This is me looking for the lost sheep." A few weeks ago Afton had to give a talk in Primary so she read the parable of the lost sheep. I guess she was still looking for that 1 lost sheep here.

At each picture should would tell me who the person in the drawing was and then what it said underneath, the scribbles representing her writing (which surprised me because she has been all about writing notes with real letters lately). "This is Grandpa. He's not feeling good so he has an X through him."

This picture was on her bedroom door. The first picture is of Afton and the X through the picture means nobody can come into the room except for Afton. Then she felt bad about telling Mya she couldn't go in the room so she made a sign that said, "Mya I Love You".

Mya had to play along of course. So there were three of Mya's creations taped up, too.

And my favorite: "This is Mom. She has an X because she can't go in the closet because she made a mistake." I'm still trying to investigate on that one.
