First Day at Church

Today was Maddux's first trip to sacrament meeting.  He was dressed in a darling cable knit sweater that, how shall we say, accentuated his curves.

And this what happens when you try to take pictures of a wiggly baby, a youngster that wants to look at every picture the moment it is taken, and an older sister who is trying to hold everything together.

"Boring"

We got to church a little early today.  A minor miracle when Dad is in early morning meetings, Mom has been up at least 3 times throughout the night to feed Maddux, and Afton and Mya have to be fed, in their dresses, and with hair done before Dad comes back to pick them up to take them to church.  But today was a success.  And we walked into the primary room about 7 minutes before church was to start.

I don't like to just drop the girls off that early.  So I first sat with Afton in her class row.  We talked about how her morning went and what she was looking forward to at church today.  Next I moved up two rows and sat next to Mya.  She laughed when she saw me sit on one of the tiny chairs used for the younger junior primary classes.  I asked if she liked being at church early, before primary starts.  She paused for a moment, then motioned for me to lean down so she could whisper into my ear.

"I like sitting here early.  Because it means I don't have to do any of the regular church stuff.  Church is so boring."

Smiles

Maddux is starting to respond to his surroundings more, including with big grins.  He is always so happy first thing in the morning when he wakes up.  When Stefanie unwraps him from his swaddling he slowly stretches his limbs out and then just smiles and smiles.

Stop Growing Please

Loved the curls Afton had in her hair for school today.  When I dropped her off she jokingly chased after the car as I pulled away.  She looked so cute with her hair bouncing up and down.

Alison came out for a little camera tutorial session.  She clearly is a master, as evidenced by the last pic.

Finally The Big Sister

Mya absolutely adores her little "bruh-ver".  She always runs to find him if she hasn't peeked on him or sung to him or rubbed his belly for a little while.  Her usual comment after seeing Maddux is, "He's just so cute.  I almost can't stand it!"  She had a little song/chant that she sang to him often his first couple of weeks after being born:

Who's the cutie Maddux?
My little bruh-ver
Who's the cutie Maddux?
My little bruh-ver

Over and over (and over) again she'd sing it to him.  She also loves singing Twinkle, Twinkle to him whenever he gets fussy.  If he ever quiets down her eyes get almost as big as her grin after the big sister helped the baby be happy.

"She just wants to play with dolls"

Mya was in charge of the activity portion of our FHE tonight.  She wanted us to have a hula hoop competition to see who could do it the longest.  I wasn't aware of this hidden talent in our soon-to-be five year old.  But apparently she quite likes it, and she could keep her hula hoop going 1 minute and 35 seconds longer than I could.  (I lasted 3 seconds)

I guess she practices at preschool.  If I've got the story right, Stefanie asked Mya if she played with a certain girl at school, a girl that is a little shy.  When Mya said no and Stef asked her why not, Mya said that the classmate just wanted to play in one room with dolls, but Mya wanted to go where the hula hoop was.

Paparazzi

We have maybe overdone it just a bit with pics of this new guy.
